industry dedicated to adopting a uniform set of poker tournament rules worldwide. The current edition is the 2024 rules, version 1.0, issued in October 2024, and the longform version includes Recommended Procedures and an Illustration Addendum. The rules run from general concepts such as floor decisions, player responsibilities and official betting terminology, through seating and table balancing, showdown, dealing, and betting and raising, to etiquette and penalties up to disqualification. Fairness and the best interest of the game are the stated top priorities in decision-making, common sense may override technical rules in unusual circumstances, and floor decisions are final. The Recommended Procedures are policy suggestions to reduce errors and improve event management rather than universal rules.
